We studied Ireland in time to correspond with St Patrick's Day (March 17th).
In Irish folklore, a leprechaun is a mischievous fairy, usually in the form of an old man, in a red or green coat. The Leprechauns spend make shoes, and store away all their coins in a hidden pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
We colored a rainbow page with a pot of gold and used glue and glitter to make the gold sparkly.
We had a package containing a "leprechaun" "delivered" that was marked from Ireland. We went outside for playtime before we opened it and when we came out saw that the Leprechaun had escaped and ransacked the room. We went on a leprechaun hunt around the room and found a pot of chocolate gold. The kids loved it.
We also had a potato bar.* You can color the sour cream green, if you like.
Potatoes are a staple crop grown in Ireland. A potato bar is a meal of baked potatoes served with toppings.
