United States Flag Painting Activity

This is an easy handpainting activity to add to a theme about the United States of America.
You will use the children's handprints to create the red stripes of The Stars and Stripes.
You will need
white bulletin board paper red paint blue paint or blue paper scissors glue
Method
Use a piece of white bulletin board paper. Draw a square in one corner where the stars are located. Have students take turns painting the square blue, or have it already painted (you can cover it with blue construction paper).
Next the children will use their handprints to make the red stipes. Leave space between the lines of handprints (so it will have red stripe then white stripe).
To finish the United States flag, the children can use their thumb prints to add stars (or cut out stars to glue).
